How To Avoid Shiny Object Syndrome

How To Avoid Shiny Object Syndrome

First of all, it’s important to know what shiny object syndrome is, don’t you think? I’ll give you my version of the definition since I was the queen of shiny object syndrome.

It means jumping from one thing to another, without finishing what you started. You literally start one thing after the next and when you see the next cool thing you think you need to have so that you can finally achieve success, you buy it, you stop learning from the program you just bought before this new one, and the same thing continues to happen over and over, leaving programs unfinished searching for the Be All Secret Sauce of Success. Yeah, this is the one! I’ll start seeing results now! This never leads to success. Time to stop being a jumper and get to creating your reality.

It’s In Your Moments Of Decision

It’s that moment when you say, “Enough is Enough!” You draw the line in the sand and say, “No more!”

You are sick and tired of being sick and tired and failing for one thing after another, not because you can’t succeed, but because you don’t stick to what you start and therefore do not accomplish your goals.

Make a DECISION to complete what you start. It all starts with a Decision. I want you to realize that making a decision is better than making no decision. No decision takes you down the road to Nowhere.

You have the power. You are in control of your life, your destiny, your reality.Click To Tweet

Own this VISION and take 100% Responsibility for making it your reality. If you feel yourself starting to get enticed by the shiny object syndrome, remember your vision and stay on your pth to your success.

I stopped some years ago, when I had kids, now I am a little all over the map. I should start planning this way again!

Great advice. The tip about carrying around your goal/s is reported to be the biggest differentiator from those that achieve and those that don’t. I have seen it among some of the biggest names out there, such as Jim Carey. His goal was to pay himself 10 million dollars by the age of 35. He did just that with his role in dumb and dumber, he had wrote a check for that obscene amount of money and kept it in his wallet. Success comes to those who have the fortitude to strive for it, making the decisions to attain the goal instead of instant gratification.

I have a hard time planning anything more than a few days out so I focus on what things need to happen in that time frame that will bring me closer to my ultimate goal.

    1. Ruby Cantu says:

      Hi Corey,

Thanks for your comment and insight.  I remember hearing about Jim Carrey as well.  I thought that was so awesome, especially hearing him tell that story.  It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we get focused and set out goals and then take action on them.

You’re right about too many people nowadays wanting instant gratification but anything worth doing takes time, effort and determination.

I actually pretty much do the same as far as my planning.   I write a schedule down on my calendar to work my business.  If it isn’t scheduled, it doesn’t happen.  Then I plan what I will accomplish that week and break it down to daily tasks.  On Friday after I’ve completed my tasks and accomplished my goals I set for the week, I celebrate.  I think it’s really important to celebrate all our victories in life no matter how small.

Thanks for your input and keep doing what you’re doing. : )

  6. In total agreement with you on this, Shiny Object Syndrom. This is where most affiliate marketers failed on their journey to make money online. Many cannot stay focus. They cannot commit to successfully promoting one program at a time before moving on to the next project. Many jump around because of the dollars sign. This is truly a great piece of advice or all affiliate marketers. Stay focus to achieve success before moving on to the next step.

    1. Ruby Cantu says:

Exactly, only with laser focus can we truly accomplish our goals we set for ourselves and then we will truly be able to finally see results.

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it.
